• In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
The typical front page of any magazine will have a masthead, a main image, an insight to a few of the more interesting stories, an issue date and a price. My front cover has all of these things and a few extra images which some magazines do use. I have presented it much like a normal student magazine with the mast head at the top of the page. It In a white box to highlight it so that your attention is drawn there.
A normal contents page usually has columns and a picture of the front cover to show where the story on the front is shown. My contents page has a picture and it has columns but I made some of the writing overflow into the other columns where there were gaps. I put a few images to make the page more interesting but didn’t use too many.
• How does your media product represent particular social groups?
My product doesn’t represent any particular social group. However it does give the impression that teenagers are only interested in TV and games. This is shown in the contents page. The stories are mostly about media today as teenagers are interested in things like video games. In one of my story titles I’ve used a quote from a TV show. This is so that the reader can relate to the article and will want to read it.
• What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
This magazine was made to be published by Ludlow college as the student magazine for this college. It has stories about people in the college and picture from around college.
• Who would be the audience for your media product?
The audience is aimed for students aged around 16-19. It would be suitable for anyone as there are stories that appeal to both men and women.
• How did you attract/address your audience?
In this issue I made the front cover a story about bash. As this is an occasion that most students look forward to and go to, I thought that to target the audience I’d have a story about what happened at the last bash. This would interesting to read and would encourage the students to buy the magazine. The other stories on the front page are helpful stories so that it can still help a student in their everyday college life. The stories inside are more media based to attract the attention of college students.
• What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
During the making of this front cover and contents page I used paint, publisher and a digital camera. I learnt how to use blogspot for the first time and found that I really enjoy it. I have also learnt a lot about magazines and some of the techniques that are used while making them.

analysing content pages.
Smaart Talent magazine.
In this magazine the contents page is refered to as a welcome page. It has the name of the magazine repeated at the top in a slightly larger and bolder font than used on the rest of the page. It also has all the names of the people that helped to make the magazine and what they did. In this magazine, aswell as the other ones i have looked at, is a smaller version of the picture on the front cover. There is a short welcome and there is what will be in the magazine and what pages they're on. This is all written in paragraphs telling the rough story rather than the header for the page. It has more writting than pictures on the page as it only has two small photo's.
First Car.
This contents page has the header 'contents' at the top in white, bold font that stands out from the black background. it has four small pictures with some of the bigger more interesting stories on and the number of the page on the picture. The picture at the bottom is much bigger and although its not the same as the one of the front cover is from the same shoot and is tellng you where the story is that was advertised on the front cover. Down the righ side of the page is the column for the stories inside the magazine and the page numbers. The stories that have been identifyed in the pictures are not in the list. At the bottom it shows the people that created the magazine with the header of 'meet the team'. There are a lot of pictures in this contents page and they take up most of the page.
Hot courses.
This contents page also has the header saying that its a contents page. The page is split into three noticable collumns but two are shaded grey to indicate they're related. The name is repeated inside the magazine but the font is small so that it doesnt draw attention away from the more important stuff. Down the left of the page is a welcome that takes yup most of the column. at the bottom of the page is a picture of the front cover repeated. The other two columns are headed with 'contents# and have four small picture on to show what some of the stories are about and telling you the page number. the other stories hve the headers of the pages and the page number but are much smaller. None of the stories in this magazine are described.

i am currently working on my first week of designing my magazine. Im on schedule and still have another 2 hours of lessons this week. I will also be doing a little in my frees to make sure i dont fall behind. Mostly i will be doing research. I will also ask more people from my friend group the questions from my questionnaire so that i can get more insight in what people of my age want from a student magazine.
Potential names for my student magazine
Student Written
Activated Student
Student Blackout
Student Smash
If you vote on which name would appeal to you more and make you want to read the magazine more that would be muchly appriicieated.

Smart Talent magazine.
The colours on this piece are all either brown, white or pink. These are all colours that blend into eachother and look good together,
The mast head is the biggest part on the page and is in white rather than brown or pink. This is so that it will stand out more than the brown in the background. The word 'smart' is turned to the side and infront of the talent. Its written in pink but it has a white shadow effect so that it is still noticable and stands out.
The word 'talent' is written in all capitals and has a silver outline to make it look like its shiny.
The girl on te ront is young, this implys that the magazine is for the younger age group and it will appeal to an auidience at the age of 16-19.
The font of the words 'career' and 'adivice' are written in a weird font. This relates more to the young kids as its sort of a grafitti style.

First Car Magazine
I have looked at the front cover of this magazine and analysed it so that i could find out what a front cover of a student magazine needs and what they look like.
There is a simple colour pallet used in this front cover. They've done this so that its not too bright and over whelming to look at but it still draws attention to the reader. They alternate between the colours black, white and yellow. Sometimes they use a black box with white text and other times they add yellow into it or change it around. This gives the magazine a different feel to it so it doesnt seem like its been repeated.
The cover photo on the front takes up most of the page, this is because the people in the pictures are the main cast from the inbetweeners. This will draw attention to the age group of 17-20 year olds. The age of people that will be buying their first cars. It also makes people pick up the magazine even if they aren't interested in the first car magazine, they want to know about the inbetweeners so they're more likely to look at the magazine.
There is a big masthead on the page, this is so that you can see the name of the magazine easily so if you are looking for the magazine its easy to find and recognise. The writtingis in white because the background is a dark so The white is the easiest to notice as it is opposite of black. This makes the text jump out of the page.

My weekly plan
Week 1
During this week i will start by collecting some already made student magazines. I will then think of an age group that i would like to target for my magazine and then think of a name. After i have found an age group and a name for my magazine i will make a questionaire for the age group i have chosen to fill out.
Week 2
In the second week im going to start making a rough design of my front cover. I'll make a few different designs so that i have a choice at the end. I will then think of what sort of picture i want on my front cover and take some photographs.
Week 3
Throughout week three i have chosen which design i want to use in my final design and will have started to create it. I will get some auidience feed back on my magazine to see if its right and if it appeals to the right age group. I will also start making my contents page in this week.
Week 4
By the end of this week i will have finished my magazine and changed anything that may have been drawn to my attention through the auidience feedback in week three.
